Kerry Blue Terriers of Ireland in 2000-2007

The year 2000 in Ireland was very successful for the breed with C. Neill’s homebred Kensbridge Karbon Kopy taking Pedigree Dog of the Year and also Northern Ireland Dog of the year. “Bailey” then moves to the USA where he gains his American title and more BIS wins and becomes Top Kerry of the year 2003.

The same year another well-known dog is starting his show career, Weatherhead’s homebred Hallsblu Royal Flush. Also Hallsie is later exported to the USA where he makes a significant show career, wining both Westminster and Montgomery. The year 2000 also sees T. O’Neil’s young homebred bitch Fajara Too Hot to Handle winning reserve Best in Show at the Irish Native Breeds Show. A few years later she goes on having a great show career in Hawaii and the USA.

Top Dog Ireland & Northern Ireland 2000

The beginning of 2001 sees the outbreak of foot and mouth disease and the traditional St. Patrick’s Dog Show and many others were cancelled. This doesn’t stop Deardon & Robinson’s Dasumianco Face Value to dominate the ring at the end of the year. This bitch also wins BOB at Crufts 2002. Another young bitch started her show career late in the year 2001. It is O’Brien’s Glenfitor Clodagh at Edbrios. She becomes the Reserve Top Irish Show Dog of Year 2001 – 2002, wins CC at Crufts in 2003 and a week after that Group-1 at the traditional St. Patrick Show. Her sister Malone’s homebred Glenfitor Ciara becomes Annual Champion (Top Kerry) in 2002 and another litter-sister Glenfitor Sorcha is campaigned to her champion title in 2003-2004.

Reserve Top Irish Show Dog of Year 2001 – 2002

In 2002-2003 we can see a successful Bailey’s son C. Neill’s homebred Kensbridge Kalvin Klein, also T. Barry’s Blarneyblues Grinder. John Weatherhead campaigns his “Hallsie’s” son Silver Flush of Hallsblu who then follows his famous father to the USA. We can also see the first European imports. Roger Good campaigns Swedish import Rollick’s Keystone Cowboy. Una Rigney brings a male from Spain El Virginiano de La Cadiera and O’Brien & Poulova bring their Kerrydom Court Dhaulagiri at Edbrios from the Czech Republic, a bitch which is soon adding an Irish crown to her impressive show record and also becomes Annual Champion 2003.

Annual Champion 2004

2004 is the year for Delmar’s English import Torum’s Hollywood Jack at Shillelagh who soon gains his Irish crown and becomes Top Kerry (Annual Champion). Through 2004-2005 we can see another successful male H. Jordan’s Glenfitor DJ Carey who after gaining his Irish title is exported to the USA and becomes an American champion. Already mentioned Spanish import El Virginiano de La Cadiera is successfully campaigned to his Irish and UK title and later on returns back to Spain. “Piri” becomes Annual Champion 2005. D. Cowden brings his bitch Doolagh Moon Witch to her Irish title and so does R. Donnan with Donegal Pass Blue Lady and K. Connors with his Strathmore Rosaleen.

Annual Champion 2006

2006 sees some nice wins for Jordan & Quigg’s English import Lunabrook Hot Shot, U. Rigney’s Misty Blue Dawn at Arigna, O’Brien & Poulova’s homebred Edbrios Bohemian Ivanhoe and not to forget very succesful exhibit from the UK shores Nagles’ Cranmoss Finbar Of Colinca. Ch. Misty Blue Dawn at Arigna becomes Annual Champion 2006.

2007 brings again the top spot for our breed. Edbrios kennel is bringing back from the Czech Republic their homebred Edbrios Blue Ivanhoe who has a fantastic career throughout the year with 8 BIS wins at all breed championship level and becomes Top Dog all breeds. This dog also gets the privilege to represent Ireland at the inaugural Eukanuba World Challenge & AKC National Championship in the USA and brings back home to Ireland prestigious Bred by Exhibitor Terrier Group 1 win. H. Quigg & H. Jordan successfully campaign their English import Sharp N Shocking of Irisblu and gaining her Irish crown at he beginning of the year. EW & PA O’Brien & J. Poulova finishing this year another homebred champion Edbrios Dhaulagiri. J. Weatherhead campaigns his Neat Petite at Hallsblu and also gaining her Irish ttle.
